About Dayvessa

Dayvessa is an independent Australian-focused planning site built to make public holidays, school holidays, long weekends, and time-off planning easier to understand and use.

The idea is simple: instead of checking multiple government websites, PDFs, calendars, and outdated forum posts, Dayvessa brings the key dates together in one place and adds practical tools to help turn those dates into actual plans.

Whether you want to know when the next public holiday falls, check your state’s school holidays, plan a long weekend, calculate business days, or make better use of your annual leave, Dayvessa is designed to give you a clear answer quickly.

Why Dayvessa exists

The same questions come up every year:

– Is Monday a public holiday in my state?
– When do the school holidays start?
– Does this holiday apply statewide or only locally?
– How many business days are there between two dates?
– If I take a few days of annual leave, how long can I actually be off?

The answers are often available somewhere, but they can be spread across different government sources and formats.

Dayvessa does the checking, organising, and presenting so you can spend less time searching and more time planning.

Built around official information

Dayvessa prioritises official Australian government and education sources.

Public holiday and school holiday data is reviewed before publication and assigned a verification status behind the scenes. When a date is provisional, regional, sector-specific, or otherwise subject to special conditions, we aim to make that clear rather than presenting it as a simple statewide day off.

You can read more about how dates are checked on our Methodology  page and see the authorities we rely on on our Sources page.

More than a date directory

Dayvessa is not designed to be just another list of public holidays.

Alongside holiday and school-term information, the site includes planning tools such as:

– the Annual Leave Optimiser;
– the Business Days Calculator;
– the Full Calendar;
– long-weekend planning;
– calendar exports for selected dates.

The goal is to make the information genuinely useful, not just searchable.

What Dayvessa is not

Dayvessa is not an Australian government body and is not affiliated with any state, territory, or federal government authority.

Nothing published on Dayvessa should be treated as official government advice.

If information on Dayvessa ever conflicts with the relevant government authority, the official source takes precedence.

Independent and Australian-focused

Dayvessa is independently operated and built primarily for people planning around Australian public holidays, school holidays, and work calendars.

The site may use analytics and advertising services to help understand how it is used and to support its ongoing operation. These services are designed to sit around the information and tools rather than get in the way of them.

For details about data and privacy, see our Privacy  page.

Our approach

We aim to keep Dayvessa simple:

clear dates, clear sources, useful planning tools, and no unnecessary complexity.

When information is confirmed, we say so.

When it is provisional, we say so.

When it is not available yet, we would rather leave a gap than guess.
